Privacy Policy

Effective date: May 18, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how Spotag ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you use the Spotag mobile application.

1. Information We Collect

a) Account information (optional): If you create an account, we collect your email address and a username. Accounts are anonymous by default — a username is generated automatically without requiring any personal information.

b) Scan history: Barcodes scanned in the app may be stored locally on your device and, if you are signed in, synced to our servers to provide history across devices.

c) Community contributions: If you submit product information corrections or new products, we store the data you provide (product name, brand, country of manufacture) along with your account identifier.

d) Profile picture (optional): If you upload a profile picture, the image is stored on our servers and associated with your account.

e) Boycott list preferences: Countries you select for personal boycott lists are stored locally on your device. They are never transmitted to our servers.

f) Technical data: We collect anonymous technical data such as app version, device type, and operating system to diagnose crashes and improve the app.

2. How We Use Information

3. Third-Party Services

Spotag queries publicly available product databases (Open Food Facts) when looking up scanned barcodes. These queries contain only the barcode itself, not personal identifiers.

4. Data Storage and Security

Data is stored on secure servers located within the European Union. We use industry-standard encryption (HTTPS/TLS) for all data transmission. Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text.

5. Your Rights (GDPR)

If you are a resident of the European Union, you have the right to:

You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from within the app (Settings → Delete Account), or by contacting us at privacy@roadello.com.

6. Children's Privacy

Spotag is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by an updated "Effective date" at the top of this page. Significant changes will be announced through the app.
